It’s been 7 years since some Pakistan artists have been restricted from working in the Indian entertainment industry. Even after having impressed the audience with their talent, several artists including Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar and many other artists had to return back to their country after the ban was imposed, post  the Uri-attack that happened on September 18 of 2016. 

After the same, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association instructed the faternity to further not work with Pakistani artists in any capacity. Later, a legal petition was filed by Faaiz Anwar Qureshi, a self-proclaimed cine worker and artist that requested the Indian government to impose a ban on Pakistani artists that included actors, musicians, singers, lyricists and technicians.

But it seems things are going to change for good! The Bombay High court rejected the ban on the last Tuesday, allowing artists from the neighbourhing country to work in the Indian film industry after the long 7 years.

The previous petition has been termed as the “retrograde step in promoting cultural harmony, unity and peace, and has no merit in it” as mentioned by the division bench of Justice Sunil B Shukre and Justice Firdosh P Pooniwalla. 

The court observed, ”A person who is good at heart would welcome in his country any cativity which promotes peace, harmony, and tranquility within the country and across the border, arts, music, sports, cultures and nations and truly bring about peace, tranquility, unity and harmony in nation and between nations. ”
