I’m not a bottle of jam: Richa Chadha recalls being told by a director that she won’t make it in the industry

Richa Chadha is currently enjoying the success of her latest release Fukrey 3 which is doing a fantastic job at the box office. In a recent interview, the actress went on to address the term ‘shelf life’ that is often used for actresses.

Recalling an incident with a film director, she said, “There was a director who once offered me a part to be a wife opposite an actor who was 70. I had just turned 30 then; I didn’t have much to do in that film, and I also didn’t want to ruin my chances by being paired opposite a 70-something man."

She further went on to share that the director told her that she won’t make it anywhere after portraying the role of mother in Gangs of Wasseypur. She continued, "That director is nowhere today, and he told me what he thinks of women by using words like ‘tumhari shelf life (your shelf life)’ as if I were a bottle of jam!”

Richa debuted back in 2008 with the film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!
