Shahid Kapoor reveals he initially didn’t want to do Kabir Singh, says his wife Mira Rajput convinced him

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh released back in 2019. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was a remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy which starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey. The film was a super blockbuster and received massive appreciation from the audience. In a recent interview, Shahid went on to reveal that he didn’t want to do Kabir Singh initially but finally agreed for it as his wife Mira Rajput wanted him to do it.

The actor said, “It is a remake, so I saw Arjun Reddy. Somebody had sent that to my house and I remember me and Mira were sitting and watching the movie. I saw the movie, and I was like 'This is a damn cool movie, man! This film has done everything that you're not supposed to do in a movie. And still I'm loving this guy. He's doing everything a nice guy is not supposed to do. This is so cool, how is this guy like this?”

He also specified that the film was sent to him because somebody wanted to make a Hindi version of the film. Actor further revealed that his first answer to making of Kabir Singh was a clear no. However, Mira encouraged him to do it. Mentioning about the same, he said, “She just kept looking at me and after 5 minutes she was like 'just shut up and do it. It's the perfect film for you'. I was like 'really?', she was like ‘yeah’. People love to see you in love stories, people love to see you in messed-up characters. This has both! Just do it!' Her thinking was so simple and I had overcomplicated it for myself and I guess it was good I did Kabir Singh."

Kabir Singh followed a story of a medical student who goes heartbroken after his girlfriend gets married to someone else following which he gets a self-destructive issue.
