Hrithik Roshan talks about the time Rakesh Roshan wasn't sure of making 'Koi Mil Gaya', credits Anil Kapoor for playing a pivotal role

Hrithik Roshan starrer "Koi Mil Gaya' has completed 20 years from its release. On this occasion, the makers of the film decided to re-release it in theatres- across 30 different cities, as a gesture of celebration. The film was a blockbuster and is still considered to be one of the best sci-fi Bollywood films. After its initial release, it managed to win audience of all age groups, from children to adults. But to our surprise, the filmmaker Rakesh Roshan wasn't sure about making the film and in fact, wanted to keep it aside!

In a recent interview, Hrithik revealed that although both the father-son duo were excited about the film, there were many who said that it won't work. Influenced by the outsider's words, the filmmaker thought of putting a pause to the project which actually upset the actor. Further, he decided to ask Mr.India actor aka Anil Kapoor about his thoughts on the project, and he loved it. Hrithik shared, "My incredibly superlative reaction to it until the outside world started to infiltrate that thought. People started saying, 'At this point, your son should come back as a national hero.' So he said nahi banate hai . So I asked Anil Kapoor what he thought of it. He said he loved it. And he had that conversation with my dad, and I entered that conversation and I saw my father's eyes light up. Anil Kapoor played a pivotal role."

The film follows a story of the boy named Rohit, with a mental disability, who comes across an alien and becomes friend with him. It also stars Preity Zinta in the lead role and was re-released on August 4, 2023.
