Renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai was found dead on Wednesday morning at his ND Studio in Karjat. The incident was reported by the house help who broke the door after multiple attempts to call out the director but got no response. After entering the room, he was found hanging.
Reportedly this is a suicide case, although the investigation is on.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Nitin had trouble returning back a  252-crore loan, and a bankruptcy court admitted an insolvency petition against his company last week.
His company, ND's Art World Pvt Ltd,  had reportedly borrowed  185 crore through two loans from ECL Finance in the year 2016 and 2018. But his financial troubles began in January 2020. Due to which, he was unable to repay the loan. 

Nitin Desai won the National Film Award for Best Art Director four times and also got Filmfare Best Art Director Award thrice. Some of his notable artworks include movies like Lagaan (2001), Jodhaa Akbar(2008), and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) .
