Actress Chrisann Pereira, who was sent to jail in Sharjah, UAE, after drugs were found hidden in a trophy she was carrying, has been granted bail. The 27-year-old was released on Wednesday. The news was confirmed by her brother to a media agency.
Reacting to the news of her bail, Chrisann's mother said in a statement to a leading daily, "It is a miracle. We are so happy and relieved that my daughter has finally been released. We are hoping she will be in India in the next 48 hours."

When asked about how she was released, the actress' mother told, "We have no clue. When we spoke to her earlier in the day, she said that she was called to take her clothes (in which she was brought to the prison). A few hours later she called saying that she has been freed. We are not sure whose intervention led to this but we are thankful to everybody who supported us. I cannot wait to see my girl."
The Mumbai Crime Branch arrested two people on charges of framing and planting drugs on Chrisann. She was allegedly framed in revenge for a fight over a dog.
