Akshay Kumar has announced the release date of his upcoming film, the Hindi remake of Suriya and Aparna Balamurali’s Tamil film Soorarai Pottru today. The yet-untitled film will release in theatres on September 1, 2023. The film also stars Akshay and Radhika Madan in the lead and is being helmed by Sudha Kongara who directed the original as well.
Taking to social media, Akshay shared a poster of the film that shows him in silhouette with a plane flying across and wrote, “We are ready for take off! Production No. 27 (Untitled) releases in theatres worldwide on 1st September, 2023.”

Soorarai Pottru is the dramatized portrayal of retired Army Captain GR Gopinath’s life as the founder of the low-cost airline Air Deccan. The film skipped a theatrical release and bowed directly on OTT but was a big success with Suriya and Aparna both bagging National Awards for their performance. The film ws co-produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga.
The Hindi remake is backed by Suriya and his wife and actor Jyotika as well as Guneet. The film also stars Paresh Rawal.
