The brother of Kargil war hero and PVC awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Vishal Batra attended the Mumbai wedding reception of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani. Sidharth had played the role of Visal’s twin brother Vikram in the film Shershaa (2021),while Kiara played his fiancée Dimple Cheema. Vikram and Dimple could not get married as the former lost his life during the Kargil War in 1999. However, Kiara and Sidharth who fell in love during the shoot of Shershaah got married on February 7, 2023. Vishal spoke about his happiness at attending their wedding and seeing the ‘reel Vikram and Dimple’ get married.
Kiara and Sidharth who got married at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on February 7 amid their close friends and family threw a lavish wedding reception in Mumbai on February 12 for the film fraternity and their friends. Vishal who attended the wedding reception in Mumbai with his family shared his feelings about seeing the actors married and happy. He told a leading daily, “For me, it was also a feeling that I couldn’t see Vikram’s wedding… It took me through various emotions and being an identical twin, it’s something that can’t be explained in words. We got a message from Kiara, too, saying they are looking forward to us attending the wedding. The real Vikram and Dimple could not get married, but the reel Vikram and Dimple have, and that is a lovely feeling. Our blessings are with them. They are a lovely couple. They are two wonderful individuals, and I have never interacted with them as stars.”
Vishal also revealed that he had known Sidharth since 2015 when the idea of Shershaah had first come up. He revealed that even after the film got over, the actor has remained in touch with him and since then has become a good friend. Sidharth had also invited Vishal to the teaser launch of his last film Mission Majnu. Vishalshowered love on Sid and Kiara and said that they did absolute justice to their roles and fell in love because they played Vikram and Dimple from heart and hence it’s only right that people shower love on them.
Shershaah was directed by Vishnuvardhan and released on OTT in 2021 where it bacame one of the most viewed and highly rated films of the year.
