Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani’s Jug Jugg Jeeyo gets the green signal from Ranchi Court as stay petition gets dismissed in copyright infringement case

Karan Johar’s upcoming production Jug Jugg Jeeyo had landed itself in a copyright infringement case after a writer named Vishal Singh climed that KJo’s Dharma Productions cpied his script titled Bunny Rani to make the film. Jug Jugg Jeeyo stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli in the lead. However, now the Hon’ble Commercial Court, Ranchi has dismissed the plea seeking a stay on the film’s release.

As per the latest update in relation to the ongoing copyright infringement case, by its order pronounced in open court today, the Hon’ble Commercial Court, Ranchi has dismissed Vishal Singh’s application against Karan Johar and Dharma Productions seeking an injunction against release of their much awaited film Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Separately, Dharma Productions & Karan Johar are in the process of filing a suit for defamation and damages against Vishal Singh.

The Ranchi court under judge MC Jha had ordered a screening of the film ahead of its release in theatres on June 24. Vishal Singh had claimed that he mailed the extracts of his script titled Bunny Rani  to Dharma Productions and while he did receive a reply from them, his script was turned into a film without giving him due credit.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is directed by Raj Mehta and will now release undeterred in theatres on June 24 after the ruling in the case.
