Akshay Kumar proves that brothers are more than superheroes in Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan trailer

“Sometimes being a brother is more than being a superhero.” The tone of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Raksha Bandhan is set right from the first frame of the trailer with the aforementioned quote. After a long time, we can expect an emotional, heartwarming and entertaining family drama without sensing the absence of all the blockbuster elements that Aanand L Rai serves in his films.

Raksha Bandhan, set in the bylanes of purani Dilli, revolves around four young girls and their elder brother. The girls are in their ‘marriageable age’ and the dutiful brother is burdened with the responsibility of getting them married. However, financial factors create obstacles in their lives. Aanand weaves a relatable story around the brother’s sacrifices for his sisters. Even to an extent that he puts his own love story on the backburner.

One of the most remarkable things in the trailer was Akshay Kumar’s name appearing after all the leading ladies of Raksha Bandhan. This practice definitely sets him apart from the rest of the superstars of this generation. A Delhi boy himself, you can see the actor is most at home in making this film.

Raksha Bandhan is written by Kanika Dhillon and Himanshu Sharma. The writer couple makes sure to incorporate the right emotions, laughs, and romance and string all of them together with the bond that’s shared by brothers and sisters. And the outdoors of Delhi with all chaos and attractions add to the picture.

Raksha Bandhan also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur. The film is presented by Akshay’s sister, Alka Bhatia and Aanand L Rai. Raksha Bandhan is backed by Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films. The film will release in theatres on August 11, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
