Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, fondly known as KK left the music and film industry as well as the millions of fans in an utter state of shock and disbelief with his untimely passing. Bollywood’s most-adored playback singer, left the mortal world for a heavenly abode on Tuesday, May 31, after performing in his last show at Nazrul Manch in South Kolkata. He was 53.
Moments after the news, the music fraternity grieved the untimely loss of this gem and offered heartfelt condolences. Singer and music composer Anu Malik expressed his grief on Twitter. “Shattered beyond words! Gone too soon brother! There never was anyone like you and there never will be! #RIPKK #KK,” he tweeted.

Mourning the departed singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, “One of the most humble, gentle, pure human being I have met in my life. God’s dear child was sent to spread love in the lives of millions of fans, friends and colleagues. Now God needed him back? So soon?! Cruel!! Can’t imagine what his family is going through. Singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya too paid a heartfelt tribute to KK. “Extremely shocking to hear this, we have lost a gem, a legend, will miss you and your voice bro, RIP #kk,” read his Instagram caption.
Sharing one of KK’s videos on his Instagram story, singer Sonu Nigam wrote, “KK, mere bhai, not done.”
