Singer KK passes away at 53 after live concert in Kolkata

Singer KK died hours after a concert in Kolkata today. The 53-year-old singer passed away after completing the concert where he complained of feeling uneasy and extremely hot. He reportedly fell ill after the concert in Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha auditorium.  He was immediately rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI), where he was declared dead.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK was  brought to the hospital at around 10.30 pm. He was performing at an auditorium in South Kolkata, where he had fallen ill and collapsed. He was well known for songs such as Pal, Yaaron and Ankhon Mein Teri.

The singer had shared moments from his stage performance at Instagram too moments before his death. He had written, “Pulsating gig tonight at Nazrul Mancha. Vivekananda College !! Love you all #KKLive #KKTeam.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over his sudden demise as did his fans who could not believe the tragic news. Right from peppy party songs to romantic ballads, KK had sung many popular songs such as Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999), Dus Bahane (Dus, 2005), and Tune Maari Entriyaan (Gunday, 2014) and others.
