‘Neither the script is written, nor has the idea been formed really,’ says director Kabir Khan after Salman Khan announces Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2

Salman Khan’s fans received a treat during the RRR pre-release event in Mumbai on Sunday, December 19, when the actor announced the sequel to his film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman shared that he will soon be seen playing the innocent Bajrangi, who crosses the border into Pakistan to get Munni (Harshali Malhotra) back home. Now, Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s director Kabir Khan told an online portal that neither the sequel’s script nor the idea is ready yet.

Kabir told an online portal that while Salman has made the announcement there is a lot that has to be done when it comes to a popular film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He said, “I would like to only speak about 83 right now. That announcement is something that Salman did. Neither the script is written, nor has the idea been formed really. There is literally nothing right now we can talk about.”

Apparently, KV Vijayendra Prasad who wrote the script of Bajrangi Bhaijaan will also write the script for the sequel as confirmed by Salman during the event. No director has been announced for the project as Kabir had distanced himself from the project.

He had previously told an entertainment portal that for him the story was over. He had said, “In our industry, the moment a film is a hit people start making a sequel. Not only in Tiger, after New York also people started saying when will the sequel be made. I told them that ‘if you have seen the film, you will see that all the characters die, about whom will I make the film?’. With Tiger, for me, it was one story. Yes, it had the potential of a franchise when we were writing but I was very clear that I am not going to do it and I have never been excited about franchises. You can imagine the pressure there is to make Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. But for me, the story is over.”
