After making a name for herself as a top model, Shreya Dhanwanthary has become a household name after giving a slew of hit web series like Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, The Family Man and others. Now, in a recent appearance on the The Love Laugh Live Show, Shreya revealed that she and Vaani Kapoor had auditioned for Dhoom 3 and the audition was taken by Bhumi Pednekar who was working as a casting assistant at YRF at that time. Shreya also recalled her experience of visiting Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilla during her modelling days and revealed a surprising anecdote about air-conditioning.
Talking about how she ‘desperately wanted to be in films’ when she was modelling but did not know how to go about it, Shreya said, “So, there was an audition that Yash Raj Films was doing. At the time, they were looking for a new girl for Dhoom 3. Bhumi was working with Shanoo and she had come to Delhi to audition potential people who would be a good fit. I was one of the people and she loved my audition. So I flew down to Mumbai for the day. I had braces at the time. It was just me and one other girl. Her name was Vaani Kapoor. We were auditioning for Shanoo, and she says, ‘Bhumi is right, you are fantastic, but I can’t put you on tape with braces. So once they come off and you actually decide to take this seriously, come see me in Mumbai.’ Actually, that was the reason why I decided to finally move to Mumbai.”
The actress also recalled her experience of visiting Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilia during her modelling days and said, “Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, who are wonderful designers, were celebrating 10 years of being in the industry and they were releasing a book that accompanies that and they had called 50 top models to grace their designs that they have done over the year. I was one of the 50. So, we were there and Amitabh Bachchan was the showstopper and I had a fantastic conversation with him.”
During the conversation, Shreya said that she was ‘freezing’ and said, “I was in, to put it politely, not so much clothing. They have floor managers, so we went up to the floor manager and asked, ‘Can we please raise the temperature a little?’ This is what she says: ‘Ma’am, we are very sorry but the flowers and the marble need the temperature to be a certain number.’ And I am like, ‘Oh, okay then,’ and I walk back. This doesn’t bother me in the sense that I find it fascinating when I meet people that say and do things and live a certain way that I can’t imagine.”
