Nusrat Jahan, a Bengali actress and Trinamool Congress MP, gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, on August 26 in Kolkata. She embraced motherhood months after issuing a statement that her marriage with Kolkata-based businessman Nikhil Jain was invalid as an interfaith marriage in India has to be registered under the Special Marriage Act. Throughout her pregnancy and delivery, Nusrat found support in her rumoured boyfriend Yash Dasgupta. Amid this, Nusrat has been dealing with questions about the father of her child.
Recently, Nusrat stepped out for the first time after welcoming her son. She attended the opening of a salon in Kolkata. During media interaction, a reporter apparently questioned her about her ‘better half’. Dodging the question, the actress and MP said, "I think that’s a vague question to ask and puts a black spot on somebody’s character as a woman, who the father is. The father knows who the father is and we are having a great parenthood together at the moment. Myself and Yash, we are having a good time."
Nusrat opened up about motherhood and said it feels great. She added, It’s a new life, it feels like a new beginning."
Nusrat has named her child Yishaan.
