Biopic on legendary poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi has been in the news for a very long time. Earlier, there was a buzz that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been toying with the idea of making it with either Abhishek Bachchan or Irrfan as the main lead. However, now Shah Rukh Khan's name has been cropped up.
The latest report suggests that Shah Rukh might play the role of the legendary lyricist. Jasmeet Reen, the writer-director of the film on Ludhianvi's life, has struggled a lot to put this project together. Before Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashi Dua (of Ghost Stories and Kaalakaandi) was planning to produce the film. Names of actors like Farhan Akhtar, Irrfan Khan and Abhishek Bachchan were being considered to play Ludhianvi, at different points of time in the film. Meanwhile, names of actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu did the rounds when it came to playing Amrita Pritam, who had a strong affection for Sahir Ludhianvi.
Shah Rukh, who is currently busy with the shoot of YRF's big-budget project Pathan, is now said to be taking over. However, no official confirmation has been given by Jasmeet or her team yet.
March 8, 2021, will mark the 100th birth anniversary of Sahir Ludhianvi.
