SRK, Salman, Aamir & Bollywood producers file suit against media channels: Netizens say ‘about time’

Today, four Bollywood industry associations including Producers Guild of India, FWICE, CINTAA, Screenwriters Association and 34 Bollywood production houses filed a lawsuit against Arnab Goswami and Pradeep Bhandari of Republic TV and Rahul Shivshankar and Navika Kumar of Times Now to refrain from making or publishing irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks against the Hindi film industry.

The civil suit was filed by major Bollywood production houses like Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, Salman Khan Films, Aamir Khan Productions, Ajay Devgn Films, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment, Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, Anil Kapoor Film and Communication Network, Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Films, Ashutosh Gowariker Productions, Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment and several others.

The petition filed in the Bombay High Court urged that media houses refrain from making defamatory and irresponsible comments about Bollywood and restrain be imposed on them from conducting media trials of celebrities or interfering with the right to privacy of actors and others associated with the film industry.
