Take time for yourself, teaches Archit Kumar’s quarantine short film ‘Flow’ starring Danish Sood

Based on the concept of the positive psychology called ‘A State Of Flow’, Archit Kumar’s short film Flow showcases how people experience complete immersion and involvement in an activity when in ‘flow’. Things seem to happen effortlessly and time seems to disappear while in this state.

Archit’s ‘positive’ effort to bring in a change in people’s routines and minds to do something for themselves is what Flow is about. Starring musician, theatre artist and actor Danish Sood, this quarantine edition teaches one and all to love themselves and dedicate some amount of time to their own self, daily.

The six-minute-long short film begins with Danish waking up to yet another lockdown being imposed in the month of May. However, this time he is not anxious about it. Rather, he plans to make it effective by not only completing his professional tasks but also taking out time for his hobby – playing the guitar and singing songs on a live session.

While he does this, he muses how people always wanted time for themselves and now when they finally have it, they don’t know how to use it. He urges everyone to ‘do something new for themselves daily’. Flow shows how only when we were restricted within the confines of our houses, did we truly understand the meaning of being ‘home’. The year 2020 might be a lot of things, but is also the year of ‘self-love’.

Flow is a motivating piece of fiction that asks viewers to do one thing every day that gives them happiness. The short film focuses on the idea of attempting to derive pleasure from activities, interests, or pursuits outside of one’s professional engagement.

Danish plays his part with much conviction. He adds the much-necessary charm to his role and leaves an impact. Archit Kumar’s direction is excellent. He puts this ‘complicated concept’ of self-love in the form of a short film, effortlessly. Antara Lahiri’s editing adds to the film’s essence. Music by Zenith could not have been better and Sarit Chattejee’s sound design is apt too. Manav Mani’s cinematography, even when confined to just a small house, is creative and pleasing to the eye. Flow will be released on Currious List. It reminds you to do one thing for yourself every day. So, what are you waiting for? Start today!
