Shekhar Kapur has been away from directing for a long time now. While fans are desperately hoping to see him on the director's chair soon, rumour has it that he has joined hands with Amish Tripathi to helm the author's best-selling Ram Chandra series of novels. Well, yes. Shekhar, on Twitter, on Saturday, expressed his desire to direct the series, only if Amish agrees with the idea.
Shekhar was asked by a Twitter user whether he can direct a trilogy based on Amish's Ram Chandra novels. The Mr. India director reacted by tweeting, "If @authoramish agreed, I would happily do so". Soon after this, Amish wrote, "Let the discussions begin!" Well, it isn't clear whether this is a normal Twitter discussion or a subtle announcement. However, fans are surely excited about the development.

Speaking of the Ram Chandra series, it has three novels titled Scion of Ikshvaku, Sita: Warrior of Mithila and Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta. Apart from this, Amish has written the Shiva Trilogy and Legend of Suheldev which will be adapted into a film with Ajay Devgn.
Workwise, Shekhar, who has films like Masoom, Bandit Queen and others to his merit, directed the American-Swiss drama short film titled Passage in 2009. Post that, he is yet to return to direction.
