Vidya Balan, on World Wildlife Day this year (March 3) started shooting for her upcoming film titled Sherni. Directed by Amit Masurkar, the Madhya Pradesh schedule of the project had to be cancelled after three weeks into shooting due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. Now, nearly four months later, as filmmakers are gearing up to return to sets, the makers of Sherni will reportedly begin post monsoon. A source close to the development told a leading daily that the film needs to be shot in real locations including forests in Madhya Pradesh. Filming key portions in rains is clearly out of question for the team.
"In Sherni, Vidya plays a forest officer who wants to find a solution to the man-animal conflict. A chunk of the movie needs to be filmed in real locations, including the forests in Madhya Pradesh. So, shooting in the rains is out of the question," the source told.

Talking about resuming the shoot, director Amit told the daily that they won't be shooting in the monsoon and the team will take a call in August. "We can't shoot in the monsoon. We will take a call on the way forward in August. We don't want to endanger the lives of those associated with our film. So, it is best that we wait for now," Amit said.
As per reports, Sherni is based on the slain tigress Avni, who was shot dead in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district in November 2018. Vidya is said to play a forest officer who aims to find a solution to the man-wild conflict.
