'Those we love don’t go away but walk beside us everyday,' says Ajay Devgn remembering late Veeru Devgan on Father's Day

The third Sunday of June is celebrated as Father's Day across the globe. An occasion to commemorate the spirit and nurturing of fathers, the day is dedicated to cherishing them. Today (June 21), as the world is sharing special moments with their fathers on social media, Ajay Devgn fondly remembered late Veeru Devgan with a heartfelt note.

Ajay, on Instagram, shared a throwback black and white picture with his late father. "Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved," Ajay wrote. The veteran action director breathed his last on May 27, 2019, due to prolonged illness. The father-son duo teamed up for Ajay’s debut Phool Aur Kaante, Ishq, Jaan, Divya Shakti, Haqeeqat, Dilwale and Jigar. Veeru also directed the 1999 film Hindustan Ki Kasam featuring Ajay, Amitabh Bachchan, Sushmita Sen and Monisha Koirala.

Ajay, on the occasion of his father's first death anniversary this year, penned an emotional note remembering him. "Dear Dad, it’s a year since you left. However, I can feel you beside me—quiet, caring, protective; your presence is forever reassuring," he wrote while sharing a video.

Calling the late stunt director his real-life 'Singham', Ajay, in a previous interview with a leading daily said, "I have seen him getting so much respect that some of the biggest actors would touch his feet, wanting to work with him. By the time I was born, he had enough money. As a kid and being an action director’s son, I still had the same lifestyle I have today, including owning a Mercedes. He has 50 stitches in his head and has broken every bone in his body. So no one else can be my Singham."
