Shah Rukh Khan extends aid to cities affected by Cyclone Amphan by announcing relief package

A couple of days ago, the powerful and deadly tropical cyclone Amphan hit the coastal regions of East India and Bangladesh. The cyclone that ripped through Bengal and Odisha has wreaked havoc and affected millions of people. In the wake of this crisis situation, Shah Rukh Khan played the Knight in the shining armour for local citizens impacted with the natural calamity. The superstar and West Bengal brand ambassador, through his organisation- Meer Foundation and his Indian Premier League's cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, extended support towards cities affected by the Amphan. 

Meer Foundation, on Instagram, shared a post informing that, with Kolkata Knight Riders, the organisation will be planting nearly 5000 trees in the city of Kolkata. Not just this, an undisclosed amount has been transferred to Chief Minister’s relief fund. Under the initiative, KKR Sahayta Vahan, ration and essential supplies will be provided to locals belonging to the four most affected areas that are Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur.

In the recent past, Shah Rukh, through Kolkata Knight Riders and Meer Foundation, contributed 50,000 PPE kits to West Bengal amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Apart from West Bengal, Shah Rukh contributed an undisclosed amount to PM CARES fund and provided PPE kits to Maharashtra government along with quarantine centres. 

Talking of Cyclone Amphan, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi visited Kolkata last week. After conducting an aerial survey, he announced a Rs 1,000 crore relief package for the state.
