The Bachchans and Kapoors attended the prayer meet of late Ritu Nanda, Raj Kapoor’s elder daughter and wife of late Rajan Nanda in New Delhi today. Late Ritu Nanda was the mother-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan’s and Jaya Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Shweta is married to Escorts group Chairman and MD, Nikhil Nanda and has two children-daughter Navya Naveli and son Agastya. The prayer meet was attended by Amitabh, Jaya, Shweta, Navya, Agastya, Nikhil, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor, Rima Kapoor-Manoj Jain, Aadar Jain, Armaan Jain and Abhishek Bachchan.
Amitabh and Rishi also took to the mic to pay tribute to late Ritu Nanda. Amitabh and Jaya were teary-eyed as they bid farewell to their daughter’s mother-in-law. Randhir and Rima were openly crying at the prayer meet as they remembered their sister who was suffering from cancer. During his tribute, Amitabh said, “Ritu Nanda ek adarsh nari, ek adarsh behen, ek adarsh patni aur ek adarsh ma thi.”
Rishi Kapoor said, “Those who do not know, two weeks from today it was going to be my sister Ritu’s and my brother-in-law Rajan Nanda’s 51st wedding anniversary. I think she chose to be with him rather than us.”
Delhi-based singer Ankit Batra made the atmosphere very emotional by singing Ritu’s father late Raj Kapoor’s signature song Jeena Yahan Marna Yahaan from Mera Naam Joker at the prayer meet. Besides son Nikhil and grandchildren Navya Naveli and Agastya, Ritu Nanda is also survived by daughter Nitasha.
