Karan Johar is one step closer to start ‘Takht’ shoot, wraps India recce, will head to Europe for scouting locations soon

Karan Johar is one step closer to starting to shoot for his upcoming directorial Takht. After starting recce almost a week back, he has now wrapped up Indian recce for Takht. He shared a picture posing in front of the seventh wonder of the world Taj Mahal, which was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Now, the ace director is headed for recce in Europe. KJo captioned his Instagram stories, “Takht India location scout wraps! Now onto the next scout!”

A leading daily had reported that the filmmaker will continue his Europe recce till January 18 and includes a visit to places like France and Italy. A source told the daily, “He’d (Karan) always planned to spend January on the final round of recce and will be exploring locations similar to the landscape of Rajasthan in countries across Europe. Massive sets will be erected everywhere — from Jaisalmer to Europe — for which a mammoth budget has been earmarked.”

The filmmaker is already wrapping up the preliminary criterions of the film. His recce was to finalize the cinematography and set designs, whereas the action sequences and costumes of the film have been already finalized. However, before the film goes on floors in March, there will be workshops for the leading actors. The source told the daily, “There will be some workshops in February with the entire cast to get a sense of their characters before moving on to the epic battle.”

Takht is Karan’s ambitious project and stars Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor. The film is based on the battle for the throne between Shah Jahan’s sons Dara Shukoh and Aurangzeb.
