This was unexpected and we don't want to rush into it just because I am pregnant: Kalki Koechlin on marriage plans with Guy Hershberg

Kalki Koechlin took her fans by a pleasant surprise by announcing her first pregnancy with beau Guy Hershberg, a classical pianist from Jerusalem, in September. The actress, who is now gearing to welcome her little one into the world, spoke about her pregnancy and experiences related to it with a leading daily. Kalki, during the interview, told it was an expected pregnancy and in the initial months, she didn't develop any maternal instinct. But, soon when she heard her baby's heartbeat for the first time, she gushed about being excited.

“This was an unexpected pregnancy. In the first two months, I didn’t feel any maternal instinct. It felt like an alien invasion, where this little thing was acting like a vampire, sucking out everything from my body. When I heard the heartbeat for the first time, I got excited. The first trimester was bad, but I am through that phase and looking forward to the due date in January,” Kalki told.

Adding further, Kalki, who was recently seen in the thriller-horror web series Bhram, told that she won't be fast-tracking her plans of getting married to Guy just because she is pregnant. "We are not averse to marriage, but we don't want to rush into it just because I am pregnant. If it is necessary for the documentation, bureaucracy and school registrations of our child, we will consider it. But when it comes to our romantic commitments, we have enough validation from each other, and our families, too," Kalki added.

Speaking of Kalki's pregnancy, during an interview with a leading daily, the actress told that she will be heading to Goa for a water-birth in December when the baby is due. “I already feel the changes in the way I react to things. I am more deliberate, slower, more patient. When motherhood comes eventually, it brings with it a new consciousness to your sense of person. I still want to work but it is less about the rat race and more about nurturing oneself through one’s work. It becomes about infusing concentration and energy inward,” she gushed.
