Pioneer of horror films Shyam Ramsay passes away at the age of 67

Popular filmmaker Shyam Ramsay from the Ramsay Brothers passed away on Wednesday early morning in Mumbai. He was 67 years old. His nephew Amit Ramsay confirmed the sad news a while ago.

Editor Atul Mohan also confirmed the news as he tweeted, "King of the horror movies, Shyam Ramsay, at age 67, passed away today morning, following a bout of pneumonia. Born on May 17, 1952, he directed over 30 films including #BandhDarwaza, #Veerana. He was also known for the TV series #ZeeHorror Show. RIP #ShyamRamsay"

Back in the 1970s, the Ramsay Brothers ruled the horror genre by making low budget cult films, which were widely popular for the unique mix of horror and erotic. Shyam was one of the seven brothers who directed iconic films like Andhera, Purana Mandir, Purani Haveli, Koi Hai among others. Shyam along with his brother Tulsi also pioneered the genre on TV by coming up with the first horror series.
