‘I was on a sabbatical for four years and was not sure what I wanted to do, but playing a character like this gives me a good feeling’, says Suniel Shetty on his role in 'Pehlwaan'

The trailer of Kiccha Sudeep and Suniel Shetty starrer Pehlwaan was released today. The sports drama sees Suniel in a pivotal role as he plays the coach of a struggling wrestler played by Sudeep. During the trailer launch, Suniel spoke about his four years sabbatical and what prompted him to do Pehlwaan.

During the event, Suniel spoke about his role in the film and the reason why he decided to come back from his sabbatical with Pehlwaan. He said, “I was on a sabbatical for four years and was not sure what I wanted to do. I had got a script for a Kannada film and then I received a call from Kicha who insisted that I do Pehlwaan.”

He also revealed a bit about his role in the film and said, “I am like a mentor, a father figure in the film and isliye exciting tha, kyunki kahin na kahin who thehrav, woh jo age main hamesha play karna chahta tha, you know its always best to play your age, has come out beautifully between Krishna and Kiccha and they managed my character very very well. Coming after a long break and playing a character like this with a lot of emotions and a lot of aggression also is a good feeling.” 

Pehlwaan is directed by Krishna and also stars Sushant Singh and Aakanksha Singh. The film will release on September 12.
