After Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government took a historic step on August 5 of scrapping Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir as well as by doing away of Article 35A there was a wave of euphoria across the country. The monumental decision led to filmmakers making a beeline to book titles on the subject in order to cash in on the opportunity and on public’s sentiment. According to a report published in a leading daily, several producers and directors have sought to book around 50 titles such as Article 370, Article 35A and Kashmir Mein Tiranga with various film bodies.
The daily reported a source, “Taking a cue from the success of (Anubhav Sinha’s recently released Ayushmann Khurrana starrer) Article 15, the titles Article 370 and Article 35A are the first choice of most filmmakers. The associations have received at least 25-30 applications for them.” The source also added that film titles like Kashmir Mein Tiranga, Kashmir Hamara Hai, Dhara 370 and Dhara 35A have already been lapped up by different production houses.

The daily quoted the source further “Some of them are keen to seek permission at the earliest to make a film on the event so that they can proceed with the research, cast and get other logistics in place.” Before this several filmmakers sought to book titles when Balakot surgical strikes occurred. Given that films with patriotic fervor do wonders at the box office, the most recent example being Vicky Kaushal’s URI: The Surgical Strike it makes a lot of sense to book film titles in advance lest someone else grasps the opportunity.
