Amitabh Bachchan starts shooting for his Marathi debut film ‘AB Ani CD’, a buddy comedy with Vikram Gokhale

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to make his debut in Marathi cinema with Milind Lele’s AB Ani CD. The film also features Vikram Gokhale who will be seen playing his friend. The shooting has started today and cinema lovers can’t wait to get more details about it.

Producer Akshay Bardapurkar talked about the quirky title and said, “AB is of course, Amitabh Bachchan and CD is Chandrakant Deshpande, enacted by Vikram Gokhale. Mr Bachchan plays himself, a superstar in his 70s. Vikram ji’s character’s family is planning a bash for his 75th birthday in this family comedy, which encompasses the journey of the leads who have known each other for well over six decades.”

Akshay revealed that they will wrap up the project by mid-July and are planning to release the film in December. The producer stated that when he narrated the film to Big B, he loved it. However, it was difficult for them to get his dates as he has many films lined up in coming months. Akshay said, “I narrated the script to him two months ago. He loved it and on Vikram Gokhale’s request, immediately accepted the film as he has not ventured into this territory before. But have to rush to get this done now because after July, he is not free for the next six months.”

On being asked if the makers are planning to release the film in Hindi as well, he said, “At this point, it’s only going to be in Marathi. May be a later stage, we could consider remaking it in Hindi.”

Amitabh made a special appearance in 1994 Marathi film Akka and now he is ready to treat his fans with a full-fledged role. On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan has signed Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana.
