Deepika Padukone is being considered to star opposite Salman Khan in the sequel to his 2014 film Kick, a leading website reports, citing sources close to producer Sajid Nadiadwala. The report states that Deepika was supposed to star in Kick opposite Salman as well but that didn’t work out. Jacqueline Fernandez was finalized as Salman’s heroine in the film.
“If you remember, Deepika was the first choice for Kick. But somehow it didn’t work out. Jacqueline was brought in and Kick changed the course of her career,” a source was quoted as saying by the website.
Sources, in fact, also said that Deepika’s role in the film has to be equally powerful as that of Salman, if she at all signs up for the film that is. Sajid is working on her role, actually.
“Deepika can’t play just a typical Salman heroine. Her role has to be as powerful as Salman’s. Sajid is working on it, injecting heft into the female lead,” the source added.
Reports of filmmakers trying to cast Salman and Deepika together in their respective projects surfaced time and again but nothing materialized so far. We really hope that Salman and Deepika actually co-star in Kick 2 but we cannot contemplate stuff in the absence of an official confirmation.

Deepika Padukone is currently filming Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, scheduled for release in January 2020.
Salman Khan is gearing up for his Eid release Bharat and is also filming Dabangg 3 in the meantime.
