Zafar will come out of a crisis with a smirk: Varun Dhawan opens up about his bull fight sequence in Kalank

Varun Dhawan shared his experience of filming Karan Johar’s ambitious drama Kalank and while speaking to a leading daily, spoke about shooting for the bull-fight sequence. In Kalank, Varun features bare-bodied in a particular sequence during which he has to fight a bull. For that particular scene, a large set was constructed in Mumbai while a part of it was also filmed in the chilling weather of Kargil.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank reportedly casts Varun as a blacksmith, Zafar. “The blood you see is my own because Zafar is the kind of guy who will come out of a crisis with a smirk,” Varun told the daily.

Sharing details of the scene, Varun added, “I moved into a hotel in Goregaon to save time and since I had suffered a knee injury and hamstring tear at the time, I had physios visiting me daily. But I still managed to continue with my twice-a-day training session at the hotel and in the make-shift gym on the set with my trainer Prashant Sawant.”

Moreover, Varun also admitted during his interview that he had asked Abhishek for a body double during shoot but the director insisted upon Varun performing the stunts himself.

“Later, I learnt that he had told Sham Kaushal ji (action director) that he wanted me to do every stunt myself and instructed him to put me through the wringer, banging me against the wall and throwing me off a height,” Varun added.

Kalank co-stars Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt apart from Varun.

Kalank has been co-produced by Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions and will release on April 17.
