I do want to direct a movie someday: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on turning director in the near future

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most popular and loved actresses of Bollywood. The actress was last seen in Fanney Khan that starred Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead. A leading daily quizzed Aishwarya whether she has any ideas on getting into production like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt. However, Aishwarya said that the idea is encouraging but she hasn’t dwelled on it, but directing a film is definitely on her mind.

She told the leading daily, “There are a lot of talks happening about production. I have been getting feedback from many people, so, it’s encouraging. However, I haven’t seriously dwelled on this thought.” When specifically quizzed about taking up the mantle of direction she said, “I do want to direct a movie someday. There’s been chatter, but I have never set time and energy to work on it. Now, I should be seriously thinking about it. My colleagues have always teased me and said, ‘Why don’t you turn a producer or director and make a film of your own?’ So, maybe, a few years down the line, I should be able to live up to it.”

She also added that she has been working in the industry for a very long time now and since she is a team player she has it in her to explore more diverse roles. She said, “I have worked in the industry for years now. I’ve always been an extremely committed actor and these are roles which demand the highest amount of commitment. I believe I have the acumen to do it myself today. I have always been a team player and made sure my colleagues, director, producer and everyone else is on the same page. So, I guess it’s meant to be.”

Well, we certainly hope Aishwarya dons the director’s hat soon.
