Fatima Sana Shaikh has commended the MeToo movement but said that she doesn’t want to share her “horror stories” and expects “not to be judged” for it. While speaking to a leading daily, Fatima said that she isn’t interested in “exposing” that side of her life and is dealing with it in her own way.
“I don’t want to expose that side of my life… I’m dealing with it, speaking to people I’m close to. Just like I won’t judge those who want to share their horror stories, I expect not to be judged for not sharing mine,” Fatima told the daily.

After making quite an impact in the West, the MeToo wave swept into Bollywood and beyond, following Tanushree Dutta recounting an unpleasant episode in September with veteran actor Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss in 2008.
Speaking about the movement in India, Fatima added, “Now sexual predators are scared of being shamed in public and shunned by the industry. For so many years we had normalised assault to such an extent that women had come to accept abuse as something that was normal.”
The #MeToo movement has exposed several celebrities with women coming out to name and shame the offenders. Celebrities like Rajkumar Hirani, Vikas Bahl, Chetan Bhagat, Gursimran Khamba, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath, Anu Malik and Sajid Khan have been named and shamed for using their positions to exploit the vulnerable.
Fatima, meanwhile, also spoke about trolls and their comments on her pictures – she was censured online for her beach photoshoot and told the daily that she was terribly upset after the first time but doesn’t take trolls seriously any longer.

“I read all the comments, even the negative ones, and am amazed that people are so invested in me. If I can aggravate them, what can be better than that?” Fatima said.
Fatima Sana Shaikh appeared as a child artiste in the films Chachi 420 and One 2 Ka Four and acquired enough accolades for her role in Aamir Khan’s 2016 film Dangal. She was last seen in 2018’s Thugs Of Hindostan while her upcoming films include Anurag Basu’s next with Rajkummar Rao and Pavan Kriplani’s Bhoot Police, co-starring Saif Ali Khan.
