One day, I was informed that he doesn’t want to be a part of the film anymore: Kesari director Anurag Singh on Salman Khan’s exit

Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is all set for its big release this Holi and film is already making a lot of buzz with its impressive trailer and songs. When the much ambitious project of Kesari was announced, it had Karan Johar, Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar as its three producers. Salman walked out and the reasons are still unknown to why he decided to quit as a producer. Akshay Kumar at an event said that it wasn’t feasible.

Director Anurag Singh, in a recent interview by leading daily, was asked about Salman’s exit. On this, he said, “I am not aware of the discussions that took place behind closed doors. All I know is that one day, I was informed that Salman doesn’t want to be a part of the film anymore” There’s no strong reason to why Salman backed out as a producer for the film.

Akshay plays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the film. The film also stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. Speaking about the film, Akshay had earlier said, “I’m known for hating wigs, prosthetics and so on, and Kesari is quite demanding. It’s probably my favourite look, though it’s taxing to fight and sweat in this avatar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world."

Produced by Cape of Good Hope Films and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari, is scheduled to release on March 21.
