My only wish is to ‘do good work’ and make my parents proud: Janhvi Kapoor on her 22nd birthday

Janhvi Kapoor, who turned 22 today, said that her only wish for herself on her birthday is to do good work and make her parents – filmmaker Boney Kapoor and late actress Sridevi – proud. “There’s no better place for me in the world than a film set. My only wish is that I get the chance to do good work and make my parents proud,” Janhvi told a leading daily.

Janhvi is filming the Gunjan Saxena biopic, reportedly titled Kargil Girl, in Lucknow but she celebrated her birthday in Varanasi. During her conversation with the daily, Janhvi revealed that she wished to see the Ganga aarti in Varanasi and also visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple. In fact, she also desired to visit Tirupati on her birthday but since arrangements couldn’t be made on time, she had to skip the plan though she intends to go next week.

“We drove to Varanasi after the day’s work so I could see the Ganga aarti and go to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. I wanted to visit Tirupati (in Andhra Pradesh) again, mom (Sridevi) used to climb up to the temple every year for her birthday when she was working. I went there earlier this year and wanted to go again on my birthday, but arrangements couldn’t be made on time. I might go next week,” Janhvi added.

As far as Kargil Girl is concerned, Janhvi said that she is elated to work with the team. “I have a day’s work left in Lucknow. After which I resume work next month. I feel blessed that I got the chance to work with this team,” she added.

Gunjan Saxena is the first woman IAF Chopper Pilot and Janhvi has been cast as her in the biopic, which will be reportedly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Gunjan is one of the first Indian women to fly a chopper while she also evacuated injured Indian soldiers from Kargil in 1999. Despite facing enemy fire, Gunjan along with flight lieutenant Srividya Rajan managed to rescue the soldiers.

The film is being directed by Sharan Sharma and also stars Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi.

Janhvi made her debut in Bollywood with Dhadak in 2018. She will also appear in Takht, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor. It is expected to begin filming in September.
