On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and other B-town stars chant Har Har Mahadev

Today on March 4, Hindus celebrate Maha Shivratri, which is the festival of convergence to worship Lord Shiva, also termed as the "destroyer of evil". Marking the beginning of spring, the festival is celebrated on the day when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. During the day, staunch believers in the power of Shiva fast, meditate and chant prayers. In fact, some of them stay up all night to worship the Lord as thy say is known as "the great night of Shiva".

Now as the entire nation chants Har Har Mahadev on this auspicious day, our B-town celebs also wished their fans on Maha Shivratri. Akshay Kumar shared a picture of him looking at Lord Shiva in meditation and wrote, "This #MahaShivratri, may Lord Shiva bless you and your family with peace and prosperity #HarHarMahadev."

As per the folklore, it is believed that Lord Shiva performs the dance of anger called Tandava, and hence, his followers offer prayers in temples and sing hymns to him in order to calm him down. We wish everyone a Happy Maha Shivratri.
