For his 52nd birthday celebrations at Alibaug on November 1 and 2 last week, Shah Rukh Khan must have not remembered to invite MLC and Peasants and Workers Party of India general secretary Jayant Prabhakar Patil who is a strongman in the coastal town. Patil, not to be confused with NCP leader and former Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Jayant Patil, is also the chairman of the Raigad District Central Co-operative Bank whose HQ is in Alibaug. Therefore, he is a mini-celebrity in the township and district. Only, Shah Rukh Khan who is an Alibaug weekender is bigger. The two met at the Alibaug jetty. The story goes that SRK’s yacht arrived just when Patil was ready to leave Alibaug and return to his home in Mumbai. And to his annoyance, Patil found himself waiting in the throng of jostling and screaming Shah Rukh fans at the jetty. The Bollywood Badshah took his time stepping out because he was on a long phone call. All the while his fans cheered and called out his name hysterically, Patil in the thick of them.
After waiting impatiently for a bit, Patil pushed his way through and stomped down the Alibaug jetty. He hopped onboard SRK’s yacht from which he nimbly boarded his own boat that was waiting alongside. Just before pulling out, Patil could not resist shouting out to SRK who was still sitting inside, “You think you have bought over Alibaug?” He might as well have yelled “Happy Birthday!” because the actor didn’t hear him. As Patil sailed away in a huff, the Bollywood Badshah emerged slowly to rousing cheers.

Patil was unlucky it was only SRK in the yacht. He might have been in a more festive mood if the yacht had revelers including Gauri, Suhana and AbRam Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shweta Bachchan, Sussanne Khan, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor and daughter Shanaya, Katrina Kaif, Seema Khan, Kaajal Anand, Vikram Phadnis, Malaika and Amrita Arora, and Anu Dewan among others dressed in their casual best for the beachside party. Karan Johar, Farah Khan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt had taken a chopper to Alibaug.
