In a period during which old Hindi songs are being reworked and used in films, Madhuri Dixit has appreciated the fact, saying that new versions aren’t offensive at all. Instead, Madhuri, in an interview with PeepingMoon, said that she quite as much loved the remix of her 1988 chartbuster Ek Do Teen from Tezaab, which was used in Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2.
“I don’t know why people got offended when Ek Do Teen was remade. It’s wonderful to see it being remade and why, because they are inspired by the song,” Madhuri told us.

Ek Do Teen was revamped for Baaghi 2 as Jacqueline Fernandez performed to it in the film. The song apparently offended several quarters with Twitter censuring Jacqueline’s version as an “insult to Madhuri.” In fact, Tezaab director N. Chandra had also objected to the remix, describing it as “crass beyond imagination.”

Madhuri, on the other hand, is in support of reworked versions and told us, “I don’t think they lack creativity. As youngsters they are trying to do something they are nostalgic about and are trying to recreate that on the screen in their way and what they perceive as their way.”
During her interview, Madhuri also revealed that the Paisa Remix from her new film Total Dhamaal – a reworked version of Rishi Kapoor’s 1980 hit chartbuster from his film Karz – is her favourite. Her reason for voting Paisa over others is because makers, as per Madhuri, retained the charm of the original in the remix.

“I liked Paisa remix. I think it's a great remix. Because they have retained the charm of the original. The original lines are the same plus they have added a bit of our story into it with each character singing what their image is in the film,” Madhuri said.
Moreover, we also had the opportunity to let Madhuri know that we miss her dance performances in songs like Ghagra and guess what she said? “Make those kind of films then. Make films where dance is important. Maybe make dance based films or make films that incorporate dance as well. But if you make films that are more realistic, and true to life or films like Uri, that has done really well, where would you add the song? And then someone would say they have forcefully placed the dance in the film,” Madhuri added.
Meanwhile, Madhuri is basking in the glory of her film Total Dhamaal, which has earned over Rs 60 crore within three days of its release on February 22. Directed by Indra Kumar, Total Dhamaal co-stars Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi and Riteish Deshmukh.
