Kesari New Poster: Akshay Kumar is ready to unravel the pages of history to the bravest battle ever fought

Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated film Kesari depicts the courage, bravery, and sacrifice of the country's unsung heroes who fought valiantly in the Battle of Saragarhi. The film is inspired by a troop of 21 soldiers who were brave enough to take on 10,000 invaders. Starring Akshay and Parineeti Chopra in the lead the makers are all set to unravel the pages of this bravest battle fought from tomorrow which means that we will get to see a lot more of how Kesari has panned out.

Akshay shared the new poster on his social media account today. The poster shows him making a last stand in front of a huge army with a sword in one hand and another weapon in the other. The Battle of Saragarhi happened on September 12, 1897, and is considered to be one of the greatest battles ever fought in history. 21 Sikhs of the British Indian Army and fought valiantly against the Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen to protect the forts of Lockhart and Gulistan on the border areas of Afghanistan.

The regiment was led by Havildar Ishar Singh, a role that is being played by Akshay. Sikh military personnel commemorate the battle every year on September 12, as Saragarhi Day in the annals of Indian History. The soldiers all fought till their death, but the post was recaptured two days later by another British regiment that came in as reinforcement. The film is slated to release on March 21.
