Vijay Deverakonda says no to Bollywood debut in Ranveer Singh starrer ’83?

Thanks to Janhvi Kapoor for introducing the Hindi film audience to supremely 'talented' Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda on Koffee With Karan 6. Known for his work in films like Geetha Govindam, MahanatiNOTA, Vijay rose to fame with his role in Arjun Reddy, a remake of which is being made in Hindi starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead.

Interestingly, several reports recently suggested that Vijay is all set to debut alongside Ranveer Singh in the sports film ’83 that is being directed by Kabir Khan. However, we now hear that the actor has said no to a Bollywood debut in the upcoming film, based on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Reportedly, Vijay was offered the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth, an offer which he declined.

A leading daily quoted a source as saying, "Right now the actor is very busy with his commitments in Telugu industry. Vijay is of course looking forward to a Hindi film debut. But not in a film that already stars Ranveer Singh. No prizes for guessing who would have the most important role in the film."

Well, if if turns out to be true, we are surely disheartened and his fans have to wait a little more to see him in a Bollywood film.
