Moushumi Chatterjee and her husband Jayanta Mukherjee had filed a petition in Bombay High Court seeking access to her comatose daughter who is being treated at her marital home. They had alleged that their son-in-law Dicky Mehta has not been allowing them to see their comatose daughter. They had wanted to get physical custody of daughter so that they can take care of her.
The court today ruled that Moushumi’s son-in-law needs to provide his wife’s medical papers to the actor and her husband by Monday. Moushumi’s lawyer said in the court that Mehta had asked them not to request for the medical papers from the Hinduja Hospital where the actor’s daughter Payal was previously admitted. The actor also alleged that when they go to see visit their daughter at her marital house they are insulted by their son-in-law and are denied entry.

However, Mehta said that he has never objected to their visits and that Jayanta comes every day whereas Moushumi visits thrice a week. He also said that Payal is being looked after by trained nurses. However, he said that he had asked them not to go to the hospital to ask for medical papers. He even said that he has CCTV footage of Moushumi and her husband visiting Payal on the day the petition was filed.
The court disposed off the petition but asked Mehta to provide medical papers to Moushumi and her husband by Monday. The judicial body also reasoned that since the son-n-law does not have any objections to the actor’s and her husband’s visits they are not passing any direction as of now but if any party feels that their rights are being obstructed then they can approach the court.
Moushumi’s daughter Payal suffered a grave illness and has been in a state of coma since April 2017. She married Mehta in 2010 and was discharged from the hospital on April 2018 and since then has been under her husband’s care at her home in Khar, Mumbai.
