Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently invited Shah Rukh Khan to attend the inauguration ceremony of 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup, which will be played from November 28 to December 16 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. However, a local outfit which calls itself Kalinga Sena, on Thursday threatened to throw ink at the Bollywood actor and show him the black flag when he visits the city next week.
After Shah Rukh got threatened with such consequences, the police has come into action. The Mumbai Police, deployed in the security of the actor, has asked him to inform the police before going to any event. They have also advised him to not allow anyone to come around him and his private security personnel has been asked to be alert.
Hemant Rath, the chief of the outfit, has demanded an apology from SRK for allegedly insulting Odisha and its people in his film Asoka that was made 17 years ago. They had also filed a complaint with the police on November 1, alleging that the actor has hurt the sentiments of Odia people and dishonoured the state's culture by portraying the Kalinga war in a wrong manner.
For the unversed, even when the film released in 2001, it was met with a huge protest in Odisha and only a week later, the film was removed from the cinema hall.
