Mukesh Chhabra gets a clean chit in #MeToo, back on board as director for Sushant’s film?

India’s #MeToo movement has exposed many prominent names right from Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai and many others. After Tanushree Dutta opened up about the sexual harassment meted out to her on the sets of a film at the hands of Patekar, women took to social media to name, shame and blame their perpetrators. Many biggies fell down from their pedestal and lost plump projects as their name came in the list. One such name was of casting director Mukesh Chhabra who was about to make his directorial debut with the film Kizie Aur Manny.

A budding actress alleged that while on an audition in 2015, Mukesh had grabbed her hand and felt her up, another artiste shared that she was asked to compromise by Mukesh over a phone conversation. Taking these charges into account Mukesh was suspended from the Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi starrer. However, now as reported by a leading daily, Mukesh will be back as the director of the film as the ICC apparently hasn’t found any incriminating evidence against him.

The studio backing the film had issued a statement which read, “As a responsible organisation, Star India takes any allegation of sexual harassment of women at workplace very seriously. Hence, Fox Star Studios has suspended the services of Mukesh Chhabra, director of our film Kizie Aur Manny, which is under production, till the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of M/s Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company concludes its inquiry into the allegations against him." However, now they have reinstated the casting director and given the reigns of the film back in his hands.
