Thugs Of Hindostan: In order to break the ice with Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir turned to SRK for help

The fact that Aamir Khan was considerably nervous while filming Thugs Of Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan is a known fact but guess what he did to overcome his apprehension – turned to Shah Rukh Khan for help, of course. With Big B, SRK has worked in several films including Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Paheli while the 53-year-old actor is good friends with Aamir as well. Hence, SRK was the common factor between Big B and Aamir and played a significant role in breaking the ice between both stars.

“I asked Shah that does he smoke in front of Amit sir. I didn’t want to offend him by my actions so wanted to be sure. While SRK shared he does, he also said that he had never asked if Amit sir was comfortable. So I was in two minds,” Aamir told a leading daily. Thugs Of Hindostan is Aamir’s first film with Big B.

SRK, during his conversation with Aamir about Big B as well, was at his wittiest best. “Shah advised me to start out by smoking far from him. And then every day get a little closer towards him. That way I would know if he minds,” Aamir added. But you will be surprised to know what happened next as Big B was made aware of SRK’s and Aamir’s conversation. “While on our schedule in Malta, I asked sir if he wanted to go for a movie with me. While we were on our way to the theatre, he asked me, ‘I heard you met Shah recently and asked him about smoking in front of me’,” Aamir said, adding that Big B permitted him to smoke but put forward a disclaimer as well.

“He said I could but added that smoking was injurious to health. He also shared that Avinash Gowarikar, who was with me and Shah then, had leaked out the conversation to him,” Aamir added. That’s a memorable story for sure. Thugs of Hindostan, meanwhile, will release on November 8.
