Rajiv Kapoor to make his acting comeback after 28 yrs in Ashutosh Gowariker’s film Toolsidas Junior

Raj Kapoor’s youngest son Rajiv Kapoor made his Bollywood debut way back in 1983 with Rajiv Mehra’s romance Ek Jaan Hain Hum and followed it up with his father Raj Kapoor directorial Ram Teri Ganga Maili opposite Mandakini in 1985 which went on to become a huge hit but did not do much for him.

His last appearance on screen was in Zimmedaar which released in 1990. Now, he is all set to make his acting comeback twenty eight years later with National Award-winning filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming production, Toolsidas Junior.

Toolsidas Junior will be directed by Mridul. He has previously directed the 2005 Hinglish film, Missed Call. The film represented India at Cannes 2006 and has also found a place in Film Division’s honour list of Best Indian Cinema. Mridul also penned the dialogues for Gowariker’s TV show, Everest. A source told a leading daily, “When Ashutosh heard the story, he immediately fell in love with it. It’s a father-son story revolving around a sport. Rajiv started shooting for the film on Tuesday.” The makers are aiming to release the film next year.

Rajiv had turned to production with elder brother Randhir Kapoor and Raj Kapoor directed Henna post his acting stint. Rajiv also tried his hand at direction with Rishi Kapoor and Madhhuri Dixit starrer Prem Granth.
