Confirmed; Shah Rukh Khan to begin filming Rakesh Sharma Biopic in February 2019

Yes, yes, yes. It’s true. Shah Rukh Khan will begin filming the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma around February next year, producer Ronnie Screwvala told a news agency. The status of the Rakesh Sharma biopic was uncertain considering the fact that neither makers nor the actor had confirmed reports but we finally have the film to look forward to now.

The film hasn’t been titled yet but will be directed by Mahesh Mathai. The script has been written by Anjum Rajabali while it will be jointly produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala under their banners Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films respectively.

“We are doing that film with Shah Rukh Khan. We should begin it by February or March next year,” Ronnie told the agency.

In the meantime, several quarters of the press suggested that Bhumi Pednekar will star opposite SRK in the film, that is reportedly titled Salute but the makers haven’t finalised on either of these subjects and said that the female lead, as well as the title, will be announced in the due course of time.

“We haven’t announced the female lead yet,” Ronnie added.

In September, a leading daily had reported that the project was expected to begin filming in October but owing to the 52-year-old actor’s prior work commitment, will now go on floors in 2019.
