Has Sidharth Malhotra starrer Vikram Batra biopic been pushed to 2019? Find out

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions announced in May this year that it will be bankrolling a biopic on Kargil war hero Vikram Batra, with Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. The film tentatively titled Kargil: Sher Shah, will be directed by Vishnu Varadhan from a story written by Sandeep Srivastava. But now we hear that the film, which was supposed to go on floors right after the actor's upcoming project Jabariya Jodi alongside Parineeti Chopra, has been pushed to 2019.

A leading daily quoted a source as saying, "A major chunk of the biopic needs to be shot in Kashmir. During the recce, the makers realised that the weather conditions would be too rough around January-February for shooting to progress smoothly." Hence, the makers unanimously decided to postpone the schedule by a few months.

Apparently, the war drama, which will be produced by Shabir Boxwala as well, will now go on floors around April-May next year. For the unversed, Vikram Batra led one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history. The Kargil hero was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra - India's highest war-time gallantry award.

Meanwhile, apart from Jabariya Jodi and Vikram Batra biopic, Sidharth has also signed Milap Zaveri’s next. "Sid will kick-start Milap’s revenge saga, which also features newbie Tara Sutaria, this December. It will be wrapped up around March 2019," the source further informed.

The actor was last seen in Aiyaary, again a war drama directed by Neeraj Pandey.
