The #MeToo movement in India which was started by Tanushree Dutta when she took on veteran actor Nana Patekar and levied sexual harassment and intimidation allegations on him has grown manifold by several women coming out and telling their ordeal at the hands of perpetrators. Several big names like Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Subhash Ghai have come out. The #MeToo movement forced organizations and production houses to take actions against offenders and men in positions of power had to step down.
Now, Ajit Thakur, head of content studio of Reliance Industries’ media and entertainment business has tendered his resignation amid sexual misconduct allegations. He was accused of sexual misconduct by Supriya Prasad, a writer from the Film and Television Institute of India. She alleged that he had called her on the pretext of a job interview and forced her to consume alcohol and cocaine and asked her inappropriate questions.

Ajit's lawyer confirmed his resignation and said that he will soon be seeking legal remedies against Supriya who has accused him of misconduct. The lawyer said that Ajit was travelling and as soon as he returned he tendered in his resignation.
Sajid had to step down from directing Housefull 4, Vikas Bahl has been ousted from Ranveer Singh’s ’83 and Phantom Films have been dissolved. Not just in Bollywood, corporate studios have also issued strict action against offenders. After YRF sent their Talent and Business Head Ashish Patil on an administrative leave he has now been asked to leave the organization. KWAN founder Anirban Blah has also been sacked by his company.
