Saif Ali Khan reveals that he was ‘harassed’ in his career 25 years ago

Saif Ali Khan has opened up about his experience of enduring the wrath of harassment in his career during his initial period in the film industry and admitted during an interview with a news agency that he is still “angry” about it. "I have also been harassed in my career, not sexually, but I have been harassed 25 years ago and I am still angry about it," Saif told the agency.

It’s been almost two decades since Saif made his debut in Bollywood with Parampara in 1992 and subsequently starred in the films Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Kachche Dhaage, Dil Chahta Hai, Parineeta, Omkara and Phantom. His comment arrived in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the nation since September while actors are being asked for their opinion on safety at the workplace in the backdrop of the current scenario.

"Most people don't understand other people. It is very difficult to understand other people's pain. I don't want to talk about it because I am not important today. Even when I think about what happened with me I still get angry. Today, we have to look after women," he added.

Condemning sexual offenders, Saif also refused to work with perpetrators and said, "We all need to have the same attitude. I don't want to work with them. We have to understand that how these people are behaving, it is not okay, it is disgusting.”

The #MeToo movement in India was escalated by Tanushree Dutta’s accusation of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar where several women outed filmmakers and actors as well as alleged sexual predators. So far, Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, Vikas Bahl and Rajat Kapoor have also been accused of sexual harassment.
