Piyush Mishra accused of sexual misconduct, apologises by saying he was ‘a few drinks down’

The raging #MeToo movement, ignited after Tanushree Dutta's sexual harassment allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar, has led many women to share stories against their sexual predators. After Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Sajid Khan, and others, the latest celeb to come under the line of fire is noted poet-writer-actor Piyush Mishra, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by freelance writer Ketki Joshi. However, Piyush has apologized to her by saying that he was probably 'a few drinks down'.

Ketki recalled in a Facebook post that she met Piyush at a private party in 2014 where he was the celebrity guest. Claiming to be a fan of his work, she "was elated to listen to him so closely" but was taken aback when he "started light flirting in front of approximately 20-25 people." Ketki further alleged in her post that Piyush kept drinking throughout the party, getting progressively inebriated.

She also pointed out that when the party ended, "He grabbed my hand and started rubbing his hands against mine," further stating that the host of the party and her friends came to her rescue. Later, it happened a second time when she went to the terrace to fetch something, Ketki said. She concluded by saying that had it not been for his friends, "Mishra certainly would have groped me or might have sexually assaulted me."

Meanwhile, Piyush, who read about the allegations against him in the news, responded by telling a news agency, "I do not remember the stated incident as I was probably a few drinks down. But nevertheless, I would like to extend my apology for making the lady uncomfortable either with my words or actions."

Piyush is known for his work as an actor in films like Maqbool (2003) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and has penned down popular songs as Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh, Aarambh Hai Prachan and Husna.
